NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- LivePerson, Inc. the leading provider of online, real-time intelligent engagement solutions, and the privately funded not-for-profit organization FeedingNYC, are gearing up to provide and deliver Thanksgiving meals to 8,000 New York City families in need next Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
Founded in 2001 by LivePerson CEO Robert LoCascio, FeedingNYC's mission is to supply turkey dinners to families in shelters throughout the five boroughs of Manhattan. During its first year, FeedingNYC fed 40 families throughout the city. This year, the combined efforts of FeedingNYC, Robin Hood, FlatRate Moving™, Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers, Manhattan Mini Storage, and Wegman's, will feed 8,000 families in need. Hundreds of volunteers are set to converge at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers as early as 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, to pack the turkey dinners and then hand-deliver them to various organizations throughout the five boroughs of Manhattan, including Women in Need, Secured Horizon and NYC Coalition for the Homeless.
"Like most New Yorkers, we want to give back to our local community and connect people who need a helping hand with those who have a hand to lend," said Robert LoCascio, CEO of LivePerson and Founder of FeedingNYC. "FeedingNYC allows members of the local community to do just that - connect with New York City families in need of assistance during the holidays, because we hand-deliver these meals directly to the shelters and families who are in need of assistance. To see the looks on the faces of families we assist is magical and something our partners, volunteers and those we assist look forward to each year."
LivePerson employees have joined together with FeedingNYC partners and volunteers for the past 9 years to feed families in need throughout New York City's five boroughs. In 2008, the organization fed 2,008 families; in 2009, it fed 2,250 families; and this year it is slated to feed 8,000 families in need. FeedingNYC provides a unique opportunity for the local New York community to come together with fellow volunteers at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers to pack and load boxes of Thanksgiving meals and then hand-deliver them to the shelters throughout Manhattan.

FeedingNYC began in the aftermath of 9/11 when the employees and friends of LivePerson assembled and hand-delivered turkey dinners to disadvantaged families around New York for Thanksgiving. Feeding 40 families in Harlem in 2001 has since grown to feed more than 2,250 families throughout the five boroughs. FeedingNYC is the 2004 recipient of the Suzanne Pincus Commit to WIN Award, an honor given to a specific organization that provides the highest level of dedication and service to Women in Need.
